We were really fortunate today to be blessed with great weather for the Remembrance Day Parade.
We had a good turn out with over half of the Cubs coming out to walk with the Veterans, Scouts, Beavers, Cadets, and Guides. One of the new Cubs was our flag bearer and did a great job.
The parade proceeded from the Legion through downtown Georgetown then up to the Cemitaph where there was a very nice wreath presentation by many of the vets and their families who have lost loved ones in wars gone by.
I was really impressed with our Pack today, as they were all well behaved and respectful throughout the ceremony.
I really think some of them have a bit of a grasp of the significance of Remembrance Day and what it means to all of us who are free. On Thursday we had the Lorne Scots come in to our meeting (thank you Beavers for letting us link up with you). Hathi put together a really great power point presentation referencing Baden Powell with the Lorne Scots and a bit of their history. The Cubs and Beavers were able to shake the hands of both a Vet and a Soldier who was heading back to Afganistan. The sixers presented the cards they made last week to the soldiers. We were all pretty blown away by the video (Terry Kelly “A Pittance of Timeâ€Â) if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend it.
Thank you to all those who have and who are currently fighting for our freedoms, and to help others around the world to be free of oppression and free to live a life without fear.
